Oh Please No!

I read this message board that is all women due the same month as me. It's really fun because we are all going through essentially the same thing at this same time. Some of the women are a little freakish and over-the-top, but for the most part it's fun to hear from women that are having relatively normal pregnancies, like I am.

Someone posted today about this funny labor/gender prediction test. It's supposedly this psychic who predicts what your labor and baby will be like. It's funny because they don't ask you anything at all about the pregnancy. It's all questions like "what is your favorite color" and "what was the last animal that you saw?" Weird. Here's what mine said:

The day you deliver, outside will be stormy. Your baby will arrive in the early morning. After a labor lasting approximately 48 hours, your child, a girl, will be born. Your baby will weigh about 9 pounds, 2 ounces, and will be 19-1/2 inches long. This child will have light hazel eyes and barely there red hair.

I like the girl part- that's what everyone thinks we're having. The stormy weather could definitely happen. I'm due in the beginning of March (which Madame Zaritska didn't know). The hazel eyes and barely there red hair are a possibility as well. I think I'd rather skip the 48 hour labor since I'm doing an all-natural, out of hospital birth. I'll also pass on the 9 pounds, 2 ounces (that's funny though, because that is what Porter weighed!) We'll see in about 5 months!

Oktoberfest 09

Last night we took our annual trek to Oktoberfest. We have done this with AJ and Maryanne for about the last five years. We always go on Saturday night because we like to hear the "Salzburger Echo" band play. They are the best! They play in the Alpine Garden (microbrews) at 10:00pm on the Saturday of Oktoberfest each year. We always try to make it. Maryanne and I enjoy walking around and looking at all the booths and little shops and the boys enjoy drinking, usually just a tad too much.

Last night, between beers five and six for the boys they started talking about computers. Maryanne leaned over to me and said, "I had hoped once they got a few beers in them they might find a different topic to talk about." They ALWAYS talk about electronics of some sort. I said back, "Oh, no. Now they just talk about it at the top of their lungs!"

And then on the drive home, the boys always tell us every DUI story they know. They seriously tell us the exact same stories every year. They are always so convinced we are going to get pulled over, even though either Maryanne or I never drink anything each year to be careful. I told them that if I get pulled over and I'll just puff out my pregnant belly and tell the cop to bring it on :)

All in all, we had a really fun night. Thanks, Mom and Dad for watching Porter and mark your calendars for next year (3rd weekend of Sept) because you're going to be having two grand-babies to watch in 201o!

My friend Sonia sent me a text this weekend telling me that I was a terrible blogger lately because I never update. So here you go, Sonia. An update.

It's Officially Fall

I've been back to school for just over a week now. We had our walk-about today, which is where parents and kids come in to meet their new teachers. I'm having an exciting year because my principal let me move my classroom into a computer lab, so I am going to teach Language Arts and Social Studies digitally. It's a newer concept that is spreading across the country and I'm excited to be the first in our building to try it out (we have technology classes that are taught full time in a lab, but we've never had a core subject taught solely in a lab). The other great thing about this year is I'm only teaching about half of it. Four or five weeks into 2nd semester I will be on maternity leave for the rest of the year! Yahoo! That's definitely something to look forward to.
